Below are some links that go along with our reading series. Please check these out when you get a chance. I’d like for you to be aware of what we are reading, the difficulty of the books, etc.

These books go home the week after we have read them if you are returning them weekly. Your child should be able to help you find their story in the list.

There are great oral language activities that go with each story we read. We do this one in class on Monday’s, but the students would love to watch and learn from Mr. Mouse again.

Hand Washing!

Found this cute little tune and thought I would post it here. We are really trying to focus on hand washing at school to prevent illness.

Wash, wash, wash, your hands play our handy game. Rub and scrub, scrub and rub. germs go down the drain. HEY! Wash, wash, wash your hands play our handy game. Rub and scrub, scrub and rub. dirt goes down the drain. HEY!

Students who slowly sing this song will have washed their hands long enough to get rid of most germs!

Spelling on the Web

This past Monday you received your first homework packet. In this packet there were 2 Top Cats, 3-4 math pages, and a spelling list. Part of your child’s assigment was to complete 3 spelling activities. I have now found a fun and creative on-line method of studying spelling words. If your child uses Spelling City to study for their spelling test they may ommit one written spelling homework activity (appetizer, main course, or dessert). It is a great way to study those words. They can even take a practice test. Words will be read to them. After visiting Spelling City your child should select Find Your List. Then they need to type in my first or last name (Kim Moore). The list will be labeled Unit __ Week __. This past week (August 17-21) we started Unit 1 Week 1. Hope you enjoy this.
